Good for Quebec
It is definitely funny that Quebec was awarded this deal to protect French culture by taking on a ton of English dubbing work so Netflix could start training English language Deepspeak A.I. back in 2023.
No beef with Canada or Canadian workers— they are just accepting work and almost certainly were not aware that they are training A.I. meant to eventually fully replace human performers.
There's no way ACTRA understood what they signed in 2023
But now here we are, classic gnome: scurrying to cover up his filthy gnome tracks.
At least in this case it will help French-speaking Quebec. Too bad half the businesses, studios, restaurants etc in LA have shut down in return.
Funny that Netflix did this while English dubbing was pretty much the only area not affected by the strike.
