Airbnb & Open Air Homes: some October 2024 details
After the renters, authorities suggested I stay away from my home and maybe even L.A. for a while
After Open Air Homes was unhelpful and tried to blame me for their fentanyl lab, and after authorities at the local and federal level suggested I stay away from my home and maybe even L.A. for a while for my safety, I fled to Tucson, and then Nashville, and then Philly.
I started to panic about more reports of addicts trying to get into the house while I was away, and I couldn't afford to wait out squatters if they managed to take over. So I planned a return to the house to defend it from squatters and a federal agent told me if I'm going back to that house at that time to "buy a gun and learn how to use it".
So in October 2024, two months after Yoshi Camacho's fentanyl lab check out day, I returned to my home.
It was a Wednesday, 2:30pm. I waved to the neighbors as I went in with my gym bag full of pretty much my only remaining clothes and belongings since my home was destroyed by the renters.
Open Air Homes had been secretly going into my house during the months I was gone after the renters
...when I entered my vacant, destroyed home-- it was still in the exact same state as I left it after Yoshi Camacho's check out day-- I got two steps in and froze. Someone was in the house.
Like a horror movie, it was a sound that would usually be comforting background noise in every day life, but made no sense in a destroyed home that had been vacant for two months.
The dishwasher was running, which meant either someone was in the house at that moment, or they had been there within enough time for a wash cycle to still be running. It was also super weird because the renters had disconnected the kitchen sink line from the dishwasher and ran it for weeks, which flooded the second level and collapsed the first level ceiling. Nothing had been fixed, including the dishwasher line. I didn't expect to do dishes anytime soon in a potential trap house.

I stopped the dishwasher, and it was empty. Why was it running? Was it a confused or disturbed addict? Was it someone else sending a message? Was a dealer or an addict squatting in the home now?
I went upstairs to my bedroom and found that the clothes I had dropped off the day before had been put in a trash bag and thrown in a closet.
Anyway the police came guns drawn etc as they did many times over that period in October and November 2024. They didn't find anyone in the home.
For 24 hours, I emailed Open Air Homes and Airbnb's insurance company telling them about this and begging them for help and to stop delaying.
They ignored me, until, after 24 hours, I told Open Air Homes that they had one hour to tell me who was in my vacant and abandoned home the day before. I learned from the neighbors that they would see "a Mexican man" go inside and that they assumed he was working on the vacant house.
Open Air Homes quickly responded to that request, saying that they had just heard from their cleaning team, who inexplicably claimed that they "accidentally cleaned" my house instead of the house they meant to go to in Topenga Canyon, an hour drive away (in traffic) near Malibu.
This was the last time I ever communicated with Open Air Homes.
